Apple launches foldable iPhone Duo with massive inner display and premium build

Apple enters the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo, featuring dual displays, premium titanium build, and advanced camera technology, set for UAE release in October.

Apple has moved into foldable territory with the iPhone Duo, a device that keeps the familiar iPhone identity while changing the form factor around it. According to Apple’s announcement, the phone goes on sale in the UAE on October 23, with pre-orders opening on October 16 and pricing starting at AED 8,499.

The handset uses two displays to different effect. When closed, it offers a 5.4-inch outer screen. Opened, it expands to a 7.6-inch inner display, which Apple describes as its largest iPhone screen so far. Both panels support ProMotion and Always-On technology, and Apple says peak outdoor brightness reaches 3,000 nits. The company also points to a nano-texture finish designed to cut glare and make the fold less noticeable.

Apple has paired the new format with a more elaborate build. The iPhone Duo uses a grade 5 titanium frame, a precision hinge and Ceramic Shield 2 for improved scratch resistance. It is rated IP68 for resistance to water, splash and dust, and will be sold in Star White and Night Sky. MacRumors reported that storage options run from 256GB to 2TB.

The camera system is also designed to suit the folding layout. Apple says the device combines a 48MP Fusion Main camera with a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera and optical-quality 2x telephoto, while features such as Duo Preview and Smart Take are meant to make shooting more useful in hand and on the move. Inside, the A20 Pro chip supports Split View, StandBy and on-device AI, as Apple tries to position the phone not just as a larger iPhone, but as a more adaptable one.
