Huawei launches the MatePad Air in the Philippines, blending premium OLED display, AI-enhanced software and a 4-in-1 accessory ecosystem to appeal to professionals, entrepreneurs and creators seeking a lightweight yet powerful device.
Huawei is pitching the MatePad Air as a tablet that can sit between a laptop and a sketchbook, with a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display, AI-assisted office tools and a slim chassis aimed at mobile work. The device is now available for pre-order in the Philippines, with Huawei positioning it for professionals, entrepreneurs and creators who want a lighter setup without losing core productivity functions.
According to Huawei’s official specifications, the MatePad Air uses a 12-inch 2,800 x 1,840 OLED PaperMatte panel with a 92% screen-to-body ratio, support for 1.07 billion colours and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. The company says the screen is designed to reduce glare and improve readability, while the 275ppi density is intended to keep text and visuals sharp for long periods of use.
Huawei is also leaning heavily on software rather than hardware alone. The tablet ships with a PC-level WPS Office suite that includes AI PDF reading, text optimisation, presentation generation and chart creation. The company says its Notes app adds handwriting enhancement, speech-to-text tools and subject-guided AI features, extending the device’s appeal beyond office work into study and content creation.
The accessory bundle is central to that pitch. Huawei says the MatePad Air can be paired with a Smart Magnetic Keyboard, Mouse and M-Pencil Pro to form a 4-in-1 workstation, with NearLink connectivity and desktop-style shortcuts. The stylus is designed for writing, drawing and presentations, while the keyboard offers two viewing angles and a low-latency typing experience.
The hardware remains unusually slim for a tablet with this feature set. Huawei says the MatePad Air measures 5.3mm thick and weighs about 509g, while still carrying a 10,100mAh battery, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, plus 8GB of virtual memory expansion. The company claims up to 18 hours of HDR video playback and 66W SuperCharge Turbo support, alongside Wi-Fi 7 for faster wireless connectivity.
In the Philippines, Huawei is offering the MatePad Air for PHP 59,999, down from PHP 64,999, with online vouchers and a pre-order bundle that includes the keyboard, a one-year WPS AI membership, PC-level WPS Office, a Bluetooth mouse and a bag. The pre-order window runs from September 11 to 17, with additional instalment offers available through select cards.
