Gradiant has won $300 million in new contracts from US semiconductor companies, focusing on advanced water treatment systems crucial for expanding chip and AI data centre capacity, signalling a surge in water infrastructure needs in the industry.
Gradiant said it has won US$300 million in new contracts from semiconductor customers since the start of 2026, extending across fabrication sites in New York, Virginia, Idaho and Utah. The projects cover ultrapure water production, high-recovery wastewater treatment, local scrubber reclaim and zero liquid discharge systems, all aimed at lowering freshwater demand and increasing reuse where water supply is under pressure.
The company said the work includes handling difficult waste streams, among them hydrofluoric-acid wastewater, and that several of the awards are repeat business. Gradiant pointed to a second phase of a high-recovery wastewater facility at a major chip plant and a scrubber reclaim design that it says can recover more than 80 per cent of feed volume. Those systems are increasingly important in semiconductor manufacturing, where water quality and consistency are central to process stability.
Prakash Govindan, Gradiant’s chief executive, linked the contracts to the rising power demand from AI data centres and the chips that support them, arguing that water availability can affect how quickly new capacity is built. Nish Vora, managing director for the Americas, said the latest wins support the company’s goal of reaching a US$1 billion US order book next year. Industry coverage from Water Technology Online and other trade publications described the contracts as part of broader momentum in the company’s semiconductor and AI infrastructure business.
The announcement fits a wider pattern of heavy investment in new chip fabrication capacity, particularly for high-bandwidth memory and other components used in AI systems. As semiconductor makers expand, water infrastructure has become a material planning issue, especially in regions where scarcity and regulation can slow development. Gradiant has sought to position itself as a specialist in that niche, offering turnkey water and wastewater systems for fabs and, more recently, for large AI data centre campuses as well.
