Mouse Computer launches the Mouse X2 in Japan, a sub-kilogram ultralight notebook with AMD’s latest mobile processors, blending portability with high-end performance and extensive connectivity options.
Mouse Computer has added a new compact notebook to its line-up in Japan, pairing a sub-kilogram chassis with AMD’s latest mobile processors. The Mouse X2 weighs 981g and uses a 12.2-inch panel with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, while the company says the screen covers the full sRGB colour space. According to Notebookcheck and other product listings, the laptop also uses a 180-degree hinge and is aimed at users who want a small form factor without giving up mainstream connectivity.
The machine is offered with three AMD APUs. The entry option is the Ryzen 5 216, a six-core chip made up of two Zen 4 cores and four Zen 4c cores, which should deliver performance similar to the Ryzen 5 8540U, according to Notebookcheck’s assessment. Above that sits the Ryzen AI 5 340, a Krackan Point processor with six cores split between three Zen 5 and three Zen 5c cores. At the top of the range is the Ryzen AI 7 350, an eight-core part with four Zen 5 and four Zen 5c cores.
The higher-end version is the more interesting option for performance buyers. Notebookcheck says the Ryzen AI 7 350 lands close to Intel’s Core Ultra 9 185H in synthetic and multi-threaded testing, while the Ryzen AI 5 340 is positioned nearer the Core Ultra 7 165H and just ahead of the current Core Ultra 5 325. The laptop’s configuration also includes a 60Wh battery, a 500GB NVMe SSD, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5, USB-A, HDMI and microSD support. There is also a 2-megapixel webcam with Windows Hello authentication.
Memory is a mixed picture. The standard configuration ships with 16GB of RAM in single-channel mode, but Mouse includes a free SODIMM slot, allowing the system to be expanded to 32GB. In Japan, the Ryzen AI 5 model is priced at the equivalent of about €1,390, while the Ryzen AI 7 version costs roughly €1,500. Mouse products are not usually sold internationally, although imports remain possible.
