Apple’s latest iOS 27.2 developer beta introduces a streamlined way to manage app visibility in search and Siri, enabling users to exclude multiple apps simultaneously with a renamed setting now called Excluded Apps.
Apple’s iOS 27.2 developer beta 1 is making a small but useful change to iPhone search and Siri controls: the setting once called App Access now appears as Excluded Apps. The renamed menu also lets users pick several apps in one pass, rather than removing them one by one, which should make the feature easier to manage for people with large app libraries.
The change matters because the setting governs where selected apps can surface. Excluding an app keeps it out of Siri, Search and proactive suggestions, but it does not remove the app, sign the user out or alter its own notification settings. In practice, that makes it a discovery control rather than a full privacy barrier.
According to MacRumors, iOS 27.2 beta 1 also includes other interface tweaks, including changes to the Clock and Music apps. Apple has not published a final iOS 27.2 feature list, so the wording and placement of the setting could still change before the software ships.
Apple’s own support documentation on Siri and Spotlight has long explained that app visibility in search and suggestions can be managed separately. The new Excluded Apps label appears to make that behaviour clearer, while the multi-select picker should reduce friction for testers who already curate a long list of hidden apps.
