Beats 360 headphones introduce customisable cushions and improved noise cancellation

Beats has unveiled its new Beats 360 over-ear headphones, emphasising customisation with interchangeable cushions, enhanced sound quality, and water resistance, targeting everyday use from travel to workouts.

Beats has launched its new Beats 360 over-ear headphones, a model that marks a clear move towards customisation as much as audio performance. According to reporting from MacRumors and other technology sites, the headphones went on sale for $349.99 in the United States and are available in Black, Cloud, Pink and Sky, with in-store availability beginning on 24 September. Beats says the product is aimed at everyday listening, work, travel and exercise, while Apple-owned Beats continues to position the brand as a separate identity within Apple’s wider hardware portfolio.

The most distinctive feature is the interchangeable cushion system. Beats is offering Performance Knit cushions for active use and UltraPlush cushions for longer listening sessions, with both the ear cushions and the headband pad designed to be swapped out. The company says the headphones can detect which cushions are attached and adjust the sound accordingly. MacRumors reported that additional cushion kits are also being sold separately, allowing owners to mix colours and materials rather than treat the headphones as a fixed-design accessory.

Beats is also making a technical pitch around sound and isolation. The company claims the Beats 360 uses a redesigned acoustic architecture that delivers up to 1.75 times more active noise cancellation than the Beats Studio Pro, together with a 12dB increase in output, while also supporting personalised spatial audio with dynamic head tracking. What Hi-Fi said the product is being presented as the brand’s best-sounding headphone yet, with custom drivers, three-layer diaphragms and dual neodymium magnets intended to improve bass and reduce distortion.

Durability has been given more emphasis than in earlier Beats over-ear models. The Beats 360 is the first Beats over-ear headphone to carry an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance, which should make it more practical for workouts and commuting. The company’s press materials say the rating was established under controlled laboratory testing and that resistance is not permanent. Apple’s Beats site also says a woven ripstop carrying case is included, while charging cables and power adapters are sold separately. MacRumors and The Apple Post both reported that the launch spans more than 100 countries and regions, with extra cushions offered at an introductory U.S. price of $9.99 until 31 October before the standard $49.99 pricing begins on 1 November.
