While US customers can pre-order the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 handheld from 15 October, Italian buyers are limited to a costly bundle, signalling a delayed or restricted entry for the European market.
ASUS has opened pre-orders for its ROG Xbox Ally X20 in the United States, with shipments expected from 15 October, but Italian buyers are facing a more limited option for now. In Italy, ASUS is only offering the higher-priced bundle through its local store, leaving the standalone handheld unavailable at launch.
The Italian bundle is priced at €2,599 and combines the handheld with ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, a Pelican Protector Case and a ROG dbrand Killswitch Case, according to ASUS’s Italian product pages. In the US, the same bundle is listed at $2,499.99, while the standalone handheld carries a price of $1,299.99. ASUS has not yet said when, or if, the base model will be opened for pre-order in Italy.
The device itself is positioned as a 20th-anniversary model and builds on the company’s earlier Ally line. ASUS says it uses AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, paired with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. The handheld also carries a 7.4-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, runs Windows 11 Home and includes an 80Wh battery.
Windows Central reports that the X20 brings a series of hardware refinements beyond its anniversary branding, including improved cooling, a redesigned internal layout and updated controls. The site says ASUS has also added microSD Express support for faster storage expansion, while the OLED panel is described as supporting HDR and Dolby Vision. Taken together, the changes suggest a premium handheld rather than a simple cosmetic update, although the bundle-first launch in Italy makes the entry price particularly high for local buyers.
