Tecno has launched the Camon Slim 5G, a remarkably slim and lightweight 5G handset featuring a large battery, vibrant AMOLED display, and capable camera hardware, challenging the norms of bulkier models while prioritising endurance and design.
TECNO’s Camon Slim 5G is built around a simple proposition: a phone that stays unusually thin and light without giving up the battery capacity and feature set that buyers often expect from bulkier models. According to the launch coverage from Gadgets 360, the device was positioned as a slim 5G handset with a large battery, a 144Hz AMOLED screen and a dual-camera setup, while pricing and availability were still undisclosed at the time.
In hand, the appeal is immediate. ManilaShaker’s review describes the Camon Slim 5G as a notably slender device at 6.39mm thick and 171 grams, with a polished finish that gives it a more premium feel than its category might suggest. The review unit was Burgundy Red, while the phone is also offered in colours including Rebel Pink, Neo Mondrian, Gossamer White, Matisse Black and Van Gogh Blue. Notebookcheck similarly highlighted the model’s ultra-thin profile and strong build quality, though it noted that the omission of wireless charging remains a meaningful compromise for a phone built around convenience.
Its display is one of the more convincing parts of the package. The handset uses a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a 1208 x 2644 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, and both ManilaShaker and PhoneArena said the screen delivers sharp visuals and smooth scrolling for everyday use. NanoReview’s assessment also places emphasis on the panel’s overall quality, reinforcing the sense that TECNO has aimed for a display that feels fast and easy to live with rather than merely high in specification.
Camera hardware is led by a 50MP main sensor, joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 32MP front camera. ManilaShaker found the daylight results to be vibrant and detailed, with good colour reproduction and no major issue with crushed shadows, while low-light images were described as respectable if somewhat soft, with a slight pink tint visible in some shots. It also advised users to disable the default AI beautification setting for selfies if they prefer a more natural look. Video recording reaches 2K at 30fps on both front and rear cameras, according to the review.
Under the skin, the Camon Slim 5G uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 7300e, paired in the review unit with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. ManilaShaker said the phone handled social media, multitasking and light daily workloads without obvious slowdown, although demanding games such as Wuthering Waves were more difficult. The publication recorded an AnTuTu score of 796,916 and a PCMark battery run of 16 hours and 52 minutes, while the device’s 6,000mAh battery and 45W wired charging remain central selling points. Some third-party listings refer to a 6,500mAh battery, but the broader picture from reviews is consistent: TECNO has prioritised endurance, even if performance remains a step behind top-tier flagships. As ManilaShaker noted, the absence of wireless charging is the clearest missing feature in a phone that otherwise combines thinness, stamina and capable enough everyday performance.
