Oppo launches the Reno 16t in China, offering a compact design with flagship-grade camera, impressive battery, and water resistance, all at mid-range prices.
Oppo has added a third model to its Reno 16 family with the launch of the Reno 16t in China, positioning the handset as a compact mid-range option with a 6.32-inch AMOLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate and a relatively small footprint for a phone with flagship-style camera and battery hardware. Reports from Gizmochina and Beebom’s Gadgets section say the device is already on sale in China through Oppo’s own channels, with pricing set at CNY 3,699 for the 12GB plus 256GB version and CNY 4,499 for the 16GB plus 512GB model. Colour options vary slightly by report, but all accounts point to a palette centred on purple, dark neutral shades and a pink-toned finish.
At the heart of the Reno 16t is MediaTek’s Dimensity 8550 Super chipset, paired with LPDDR5X memory on the higher-spec model and UFS 3.1 storage. The phone runs Oppo’s ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, and the company claims a wide set of durability ratings, including IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K protection. That combination places the Reno 16t among a growing class of Android phones that are trying to balance thinness, water resistance and long battery life without moving into premium pricing territory.
Imaging is a major part of the pitch. The handset carries a triple rear camera system led by a 200-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilisation, alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50-megapixel telephoto unit with 3.5x optical zoom. A 50-megapixel front camera with autofocus handles selfies and video calls. According to the available specifications, the phone can record video at up to 4K at 60 frames per second, which is a notable specification for a mid-range device and will appeal to users who prioritise content capture as much as general performance.
Battery capacity is another headline feature. The Reno 16t is fitted with a 6,700mAh cell and supports 80W wired fast charging, a combination that should reduce charging anxiety for heavy users. Oppo also includes dual-SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, multiple satellite navigation systems and an infrared blaster. At 151.21 x 72.42 x 8.36mm and roughly 191g, the phone is compact by modern standards, but its specifications suggest Oppo is aiming to make that size feel like a deliberate engineering choice rather than a compromise.
