Vivo elevates its premium smartphone lineup with the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, featuring cutting-edge Zeiss camera systems, MediaTek’s top-tier chip, and impressive battery life, signalling a fierce focus on high-end mobile photography and performance.
Vivo has moved its flagship line further into premium imaging territory with the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, a pair of Android phones aimed squarely at mobile photography enthusiasts and performance-heavy users. The launch matters less for the brand’s styling than for the hardware it bundles: according to Vivo’s announcement and early reports, the company is positioning the series as a showcase for MediaTek’s latest high-end silicon, large silicon-carbon batteries and a camera system built around Zeiss optics.
The two handsets are also being used to make a wider claim about Android performance in 2026. Vivo says both models use the Dimensity 9600 Pro, which it describes as the first flagship chip in its class for the line. That conflicts with some early coverage, including reports from Gizmochina, Gizchina and PhoneArena, which describe the processor as a 2nm part, while the launch write-up from Kunal Chowdhury refers to a TSMC 3nm build. Whatever the exact fabrication node, the common point across the reports is that Vivo is treating the chip as the core of the series’ pitch on efficiency, gaming stability and on-device AI features.
Camera hardware remains the main differentiator. Kunal Chowdhury says the X500 Pro pairs a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 main sensor with a 200MP Zeiss APO periscope lens, while the Pro Max adds a dual-periscope arrangement with longer zoom reach. DPReview’s account paints a slightly different picture, saying the Pro Max uses Sony’s Lytia L910 as its main sensor, alongside a 200MP telephoto camera and support for Vivo’s optional Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra, which would extend the system to a 400mm equivalent focal length. Gadgets360 adds that Vivo has confirmed a 200MP Zeiss APO periscope lens with improved autofocus, subject tracking and CIPA 7.0-rated stabilisation, suggesting the telephoto system is a major focus regardless of the exact sensor package.
Battery and display specifications also place the phones near the top of the Android market. The launch article says the X500 Pro uses a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel and a 6,500mAh battery, while the Pro Max grows to 6.88 inches and 7,000mAh with faster charging. Other listings, however, describe the Pro Max with an 8,000mAh battery and 90W wired charging, so some specification details may still be settling as the phones roll out. Across the reports, the broad picture is consistent: Vivo is targeting long endurance, fast charging, high-refresh-rate screens and an IP-rated body for users who want a no-compromise flagship, although global availability remains unclear and several outlets say the phones are, for now, centred on the Chinese market.
