HMD launches Vibe2 Pro 5G in India with focus on durability and value

HMD Global introduces the Vibe2 Pro 5G in India, a new model emphasising practicality, with upgrades in processing, camera, battery life, and display, alongside localisation features to cater to Indian consumers during Flipkart’s Big Billion Days.

HMD has added a new model to its Vibe2 smartphone line in India, introducing the Vibe2 Pro 5G as a more capable follow-up to the standard Vibe2 5G. The company is positioning the handset around everyday practicality, with upgrades to processing, photography, battery life and display smoothness, while keeping the broader pitch centred on durability and value for Indian buyers. Reports from the launch place the phone on Flipkart from 8 October, timed with the retailer’s Big Billion Days sale.

At the core of the device is MediaTek’s Dimensity 6300 platform, a 5G chip built around eight cores and aimed at mainstream performance rather than premium-class power. HMD is offering the phone in 6GB or 8GB of RAM, each paired with 128GB of storage, and expandable memory support via microSD. That combination is intended to cover standard tasks such as browsing, streaming, messaging and light gaming without pushing the price into a higher bracket.

The Vibe2 Pro 5G also brings a clearer focus on imaging and screen quality. It uses a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 main camera with a secondary 2-megapixel macro sensor, alongside a 13-megapixel front camera. The display is a 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate, a specification that should make scrolling and app navigation feel smoother than on standard 60Hz panels. One report said peak brightness reaches 800 nits, which would help visibility in brighter conditions.

Battery life remains one of the phone’s main selling points. HMD has fitted a 6,000mAh battery and 33W wired charging, with a compatible charger included in the box, according to the launch details. The handset ships with Android 16 and includes familiar features such as a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C. HMD is also leaning heavily into localisation: the phone comes with Indus by Sarvam AI, which supports more than 22 Indian languages, and optional Sanchar Saathi tools for handset verification and lost-phone tracing. The company says its service network spans more than 200 care centres and pickup-and-drop support across 18,000 pin codes.
