Vivo launches the X Fold6 globally, targeting professionals with a sleek, powerful foldable device boasting a large battery, innovative software, and flagship camera capabilities designed for business and productivity on the go.
vivo has unveiled the X Fold6 for international markets, positioning the device as a foldable phone aimed at mobile professionals rather than mainstream buyers. The company says the handset combines a slim chassis, a larger battery, and a stronger imaging system with new software designed to make multitasking easier on a folding screen. In practice, the launch appears to extend a product line that vivo has already introduced in China, now reframed for a global audience.
The software package is centred on OriginOS 7 Fold, which the company says brings a redesigned multitasking environment built around multiple overlapping windows, split-screen layouts and app-to-app dragging. vivo describes a set of AI tools for meeting notes, file sorting and document reading, along with a desktop-style mode for use with an external monitor. That pitch broadly matches earlier descriptions of the phone in vivo’s own product pages, which present the X Fold6 as a business-oriented device with integrated productivity features.
Battery capacity is another key part of the company’s message. vivo says the X Fold6 carries a 6,900mAh BlueVolt battery, with support for 80W wired charging, 40W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging. The firm also points to silicon-anode battery technology and a semi-solid-state design intended to improve performance in cold conditions. Independent product summaries published after the Chinese launch describe similar charging capabilities, although some earlier reports differed on the exact battery figure, placing it at around 7,000mAh.
On design, vivo is arguing that the phone remains unusually slim for a foldable despite its battery size. The company says the two colourways differ slightly in weight and thickness, with the lighter version measuring 4.4mm when unfolded and the other 4.8mm. That places the device in a segment where thinness, hinge engineering and everyday portability remain important buying points, particularly against rival foldables that have often traded battery life for compactness.
Photography is being used as another differentiator. vivo says the X Fold6 combines a 200-megapixel main camera with a telephoto system developed with ZEISS, including up to 100x zoom and features aimed at portraits, concerts and moving subjects. The company also highlights imaging hardware and software intended to improve low-light shooting, live-event capture and video recording. Tech coverage around the earlier Chinese debut similarly emphasised the camera system as one of the phone’s main selling points, while noting that vivo is trying to position the handset as an alternative to more established foldable rivals.
The device also brings the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition platform, which vivo says was co-developed with MediaTek for foldable workloads, along with an 8.02-inch internal display and a 6.51-inch cover screen. The company claims both panels support adaptive refresh rates and high peak brightness, and says the phone has water, dust and freeze resistance ratings intended to make it more practical for travel. Separately, product summaries published after the China launch indicate that the X Fold6 is likely to remain a premium device with broad specification appeal but a price and availability profile that will determine how far it can compete outside vivo’s core markets.
