Micron shares surge as AI-driven memory demand fuels record earnings and optimistic outlook

Micron Technology’s shares rose after exceeding expectations with record revenue and earnings, driven by booming AI-related memory demand and confident future guidance.

Micron Technology shares rose on Thursday after the memory-chip maker delivered results that comfortably exceeded expectations, reinforcing the market’s view that demand tied to artificial intelligence remains exceptionally strong. MarketBeat reported that the stock gained about 3% in heavy trading after the company posted quarterly earnings and revenue above Wall Street forecasts, with turnover also running above the recent average.

The latest numbers extend a remarkable run of momentum for the company. In its fiscal second quarter, Micron reported record revenue of $23.86 billion and non-GAAP earnings per share of $12.20, according to the company’s investor release in March. By the fiscal third quarter, revenue had climbed further to $41.46 billion, while non-GAAP earnings reached $25.11 a share, underscoring the rapid expansion in both profitability and cash generation as AI-related demand lifted pricing and volumes for advanced memory products.

MarketBeat said the latest quarterly result came in at $33.42 a share on revenue of $54.23 billion, both ahead of analyst estimates, and that Micron has guided first-quarter fiscal 2027 earnings to a range of $37.15 to $39.15 a share. The company’s outlook has continued to draw attention because management has said a large share of expected 2027 output is already committed, suggesting supply remains tight even as demand broadens across data centres and other high-performance computing markets.

The company has also signalled confidence in its financial position through capital returns. Micron recently disclosed a quarterly dividend, following earlier reporting of stronger cash flow and a 30% increase in the payout approved by its board earlier in the year, according to the company’s investor communications. Analysts have responded with more bullish targets, although the stock’s sharp advance means some investors are weighing whether the valuation now reflects much of the near-term upside.
