Elecom introduces slim 10,000mAh power bank with integrated USB-C strap cable for on-the-go charging

Japanese company Elecom launches a versatile, compact 10,000mAh power bank featuring an integrated strap-style USB Type-C cable, offering enhanced convenience for travellers and everyday users seeking efficient charging with safety and eco-friendly design features.

ELECOM has launched a 10,000mAh mobile battery with an integrated strap-style USB Type-C cable, adding a small but practical twist to a crowded product category. The device, announced by the company on 30 September and reported by Japanese technology outlets, is designed to reduce the number of items users need to carry while keeping charging capability close to hand.

The battery is only about 16mm thick, which ELECOM says makes it easy to slip into a small bag or pocket. It comes in black and white, under the model numbers DE-C88-10000BK and DE-C88-10000WH, with pricing left open. By attaching the cable to the unit itself, the company is targeting everyday carry use as well as travel, where forgotten cables are a common inconvenience.

Charging performance is the main technical draw. ELECOM says the unit can deliver up to 30W when a single USB Type-C port is used with a compatible device and an appropriate input arrangement. The battery includes two USB Type-C ports and one USB-A port, but total output is capped at 24W when more than one port is used at the same time. Support for USB Power Delivery and PPS should help it negotiate suitable voltage and current automatically with phones, tablets and other supported devices.

The battery also supports what ELECOM describes as simultaneous charging of the power bank and connected device, often called pass-through charging. That can be useful on desks or hotel bedside tables, where one charger can replenish both devices overnight. The USB-A port additionally offers a low-current mode for smaller accessories such as Bluetooth headsets and earphones, alongside an automatic charging mode that adjusts output for the connected device.

Capacity is rated at 10,000mAh, which ELECOM says is enough for roughly 3.3 full charges of a 1,800mAh smartphone or about 1.9 charges of a 3,000mAh handset, using the company’s own test conditions. A front LED panel shows remaining battery level in 1% steps, giving finer visibility than the more common four-light indicators found on many rival products.

ELECOM has also made gaming compatibility part of the pitch. The battery can charge Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and Nintendo Switch 2 systems, although the company notes that certain operating modes may prevent play while charging. It also says the battery is not compatible with docked use on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch. The product is branded as suitable for air travel, with a rated energy value of 160Wh or less, though actual carriage rules remain subject to each airline’s policy.

Safety and sustainability are also part of the specification sheet. ELECOM says the battery uses a rechargeable lithium-ion cell rated for around 500 charge cycles and includes Thermal Protection plus multiple safeguards that stop operation if an abnormal condition is detected. It is compliant with Japan’s PSE requirements and aligned with JIS C 62133-2:2020 and JIS C 8715-2:2024, according to the company. It is also listed under ELECOM’s THINK ECOLOGY programme, which the firm says uses recycled materials, paper packaging from certified forest sources and a plastic reduction of at least 20% versus its internal standard product benchmarks.

The battery is being sold through Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera, according to ELECOM’s announcement and subsequent coverage by Japanese tech media. For buyers who want a single-device charging setup without carrying an extra cable, the new model is aimed squarely at convenience, not novelty.
