ASUS Vivobook S16 redefines large-screen portability with all-day battery life and versatile performance

The ASUS Vivobook S16 offers a spacious 16-inch display in a lightweight chassis, combining portability with productivity for students and professionals alike, thanks to its balanced performance and thoughtful features.

ASUS’s Vivobook S16 makes a straightforward case for large-screen portability. The machine is built around a 16-inch panel, yet it remains thin and light enough to carry daily, which is the central appeal of the design. In practical use, the extra display area is the feature that matters most: it gives more room for documents, browser tabs, creative tools and video calls, without forcing the user into a heavier chassis than expected.

The review unit described by Teknogadyet uses an Intel Core 7 350 processor, while ASUS’s Philippine product page for the S3607Q variant describes a separate Snapdragon X configuration. That distinction matters, because the two versions are not identical in positioning or endurance claims. ASUS says the Snapdragon model includes a Hexagon NPU rated at 45 TOPS and a battery life claim of up to 24 hours, whereas the review sample was measured in real use at up to 15 hours on a charge.

On design, the Vivobook S16 aims for a premium but restrained look. Teknogadyet notes that the metal body feels solid despite the slim profile, and the matte finish helps keep fingerprints under control. The laptop also offers the kind of connectivity expected from a full-sized productivity machine, including two USB Type-C ports, two USB Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5mm audio jack. ASUS also positions the family as having military-grade durability, reinforcing the focus on everyday carry rather than flashy styling.

The display is another reason the laptop stands out. Teknogadyet’s review highlights the 16:10 WUXGA screen and its 144Hz refresh rate, which make scrolling, reading and multitasking feel smoother and more spacious. The panel is not as sharp as a higher-resolution 2.5K display, but that trade-off appears deliberate. For students and general users, the combination of the larger canvas, anti-glare finish and higher refresh rate is more useful than pure pixel density.

Performance depends on expectations, but for school and office work the Intel-based review unit appears well matched to its purpose. Teknogadyet reports smooth handling of writing, web work, online classes, streaming and light content creation, including simple short-form video edits. Heavier jobs such as repeated 4K editing or more demanding creative work begin to stretch the system, which is consistent with YugaTech’s assessment that the Snapdragon X version is best suited to productivity rather than gaming. In other words, the Vivobook S16 is designed to be capable first, and ambitious only within limits.

The keyboard and ASUS software package round out the experience. The full-size layout includes a numpad, which improves data entry but takes some adjustment for users coming from smaller laptops. Once acclimatised, Teknogadyet found the typing experience comfortable. ASUS also bundles MyASUS, GlideX and ScreenXpert, which manage system updates, battery care, noise cancellation, phone mirroring and window organisation. ASUS says the Philippine package also includes Office 2024 Home, Microsoft 365 Basic, cloud storage, a backpack, accidental damage protection and a local and international warranty, which makes the overall offer more competitive for students.

Taken as a whole, the Vivobook S16 succeeds because it treats screen size as a productivity feature rather than a luxury. The review unit’s measured battery life, light weight and competent everyday performance make it easy to live with, while ASUS’s own specifications for other variants suggest the line has been built to cover different user needs. For buyers who want a larger screen without moving to a bulky laptop, the S16 remains a sensible option.
