Withings BodyScan 2 offers comprehensive health tracking at a premium price

Withings has unveiled the BodyScan 2, a high-end smart scale that aims to deliver detailed cardiometabolic assessments, including biomarkers and ECG features, redefining home health monitoring , but at a steep cost.

Withings is pushing the humble bathroom scale into far more ambitious territory with the BodyScan 2, a premium device that aims to do much more than log weight. The company says the product is designed to turn a daily weigh-in into a cardiometabolic assessment, and that framing is borne out by the feature set: in addition to standard body-composition data, it can estimate heart age, vascular age and signals associated with hypertension risk. TechRadar’s review found that the scale’s standard measurements were consistently credible, while the newer wellness metrics were more variable, particularly vascular age, which shifted noticeably over a short period.

That ambition comes at a steep cost. TechRadar lists the BodyScan 2 at $599.95 in the US and £449.95 in the UK, while Withings’ own product pages also place it at $599.95 and note FSA/HSA eligibility in the US. Tom’s Guide reached the same price point in its review and described the device as a tool better suited to serious fitness users than casual weigh-in monitoring. In practice, the BodyScan 2 sits well above most competing smart scales, and Withings also charges for the fuller software experience through a Withings+ subscription, making the total package even more expensive for anyone who wants the complete feature set.

The hardware is a large part of the appeal. Reviewers praised the scale’s build quality, noting a reinforced aluminium chassis, a glass platform and a retractable handle that houses the colour display and extra sensors. TechRadar said the screen had been moved into the handle for easier reading, and Withings describes the BodyScan 2 as having a high-resolution LCD display, a large-format ITO glass platform and six-zone body analysis. Tom’s Guide similarly highlighted the sleek design and the retractable handle with built-in electrodes, which helps distinguish the device from more conventional smart scales.

Feature depth is where the BodyScan 2 separates itself most clearly from cheaper rivals. Withings says the scale can measure more than 60 biomarkers and supports scan modes such as a daily check-in and a fuller longevity scan. The company also says it includes SpO2 sensing, cardiovascular markers, nerve-health metrics, a 6-lead ECG with AFib detection and glucose-resilience tracking, though not every function is necessarily available in the same way to every user or in every market. TechRadar’s hands-on testing focused on the consumer-facing health estimates and concluded that the device is impressive as an innovation, but still best used as a trend tool rather than a medical-grade diagnostic instrument.

For buyers, the judgement is fairly clear. The BodyScan 2 appears to be one of the most technically ambitious smart scales now on sale, and the combination of advanced sensing, premium materials and broad app integration makes it compelling for people who want detailed health tracking at home. Tom’s Guide noted compatibility with Apple Health and Google Fit, while TechRadar found the interface somewhat crowded because of the amount of data on offer. That means the product makes most sense for committed users who will make use of the extra metrics and can justify the cost. For everyone else, simpler scales will provide the basics at a fraction of the price.
