Revise launches a browser-based AI tool that enables careful, trackable editing of lengthy Word, PDF, and Markdown documents, offering a practical alternative to traditional AI writing assistants.
Revise is pitching itself as a more practical way to use AI for document review, moving the interaction out of a chat window and into a full editor built for long-form work. The browser-based tool is designed to handle Word documents, PDFs, Markdown and text files, and its selling point is simple: users can keep the original draft in view while the AI suggests edits, comments on sections and helps refine the text without replacing it wholesale.
That approach matters because many existing AI assistants are better at producing a rewritten document than supporting careful revision. Revise instead presents changes as tracked suggestions that can be accepted, rejected or edited, which keeps the author in control of the final version. According to Revise’s own product pages, the system can work through an entire document, identify structure and content problems, and leave inline notes on issues such as weak arguments, factual inconsistencies and questionable citations.
The company also says the tool is meant to reduce the friction of working with large files. It supports imports from Word and PDF, including scanned or image-based PDFs, which it converts into editable text using multimodal models. Revise says it can handle documents of up to around 100 pages, making it more suitable for essays, reports, contracts and similar material than the short text boxes used by many AI writing tools.
Revise is also positioning the product as a flexible alternative to mainstream office suites. It says users can choose from different models, including GPT-5 and Claude, and that the service offers a free tier with daily limits. The company adds that its privacy controls are on by default and that the tool can export back to Word or PDF, which helps it fit into existing editorial and academic workflows. For users who already rely on AI for first-pass review, the appeal is less about generating new text than about making revision faster, more precise and easier to manage.
