Vivo V80 to feature record-breaking 7200mAh battery and Zeiss cameras in India launch

Vivo prepares to unveil the V80 on 6 October, featuring a 7200mAh battery, a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display, and four ZEISS-branded cameras, setting new benchmarks for the company’s V-series.

vivo is set to unveil the V80 on 6 October, extending its V-series line with a model that the company has been teasing around “cinematic moments”. The India-led launch follows the V80 Lite, which arrived at the start of September, and appears aimed at combining a brighter display, a larger battery and a more ambitious camera package than the V70 it succeeds.

According to the details vivo has confirmed, the phone uses a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness rated at 5,000 nits. Power comes from a 7,200mAh battery with 90W wired charging, a notable increase over the V70’s 6,500mAh cell while keeping the same charging speed. Tech-ish has reported that the larger battery should translate into around 11% more capacity than before, and said laboratory testing points to a 50% charge in about 30 minutes.

The camera hardware is one of the main selling points. vivo says the V80 will carry four ZEISS-branded cameras, led by a 50-megapixel selfie camera with autofocus and a wide-angle lens, plus a 50-megapixel main sensor using Sony’s Lytia 700V unit with CIPA 4.5-rated optical image stabilisation. At the rear there is also a 50-megapixel 3x telephoto camera based on Sony’s IMX882 sensor with optical stabilisation, alongside an ultra-wide camera. The handset will support 4K Cinematic Video recording at up to 60 frames per second.

Some key details are still being held back until the launch event. The chipset has not been formally confirmed, although Tech-ish says vivo is retaining Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, while other pre-launch reports have suggested alternative processors. Pricing has also not been disclosed, and it remains unclear when the phone will reach markets outside India. Digital Bharat Times says the V80 will be the first V-series handset in India to ship with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17, which would also mark the software’s first appearance outside China if that is borne out at launch.
