Lotte Engineering & Construction unveils a voice-activated home network service embedded in its Smart Home 2.0 platform, enabling residents to control household devices via a smartphone app without external AI speakers, aiming for broader application across residential services.
Lotte Engineering & Construction has begun rolling out a voice-controlled home network service that lets residents operate household devices directly from the company’s smartphone app, without needing a separate AI speaker. The system, developed with Lotte Innovate, is being embedded in Lotte Smart Home 2.0 and is due to appear first in future Lotte Castle and Leel residential developments.
The service allows users to issue ordinary spoken instructions through the Lotte Smart Home app, such as asking for a living-room light to be switched on or setting an air-conditioner to a specific temperature. The AI then interprets the room, the device and the command, before sending the instruction through the home network. Results, including light status and temperature settings, are shown on the app screen.
According to Lotte Construction, the aim is to remove the multi-step menu navigation that has typically been needed in smart-home apps and to make the system easier to use for older residents as well as other users. The first phase focuses on the functions people are most likely to use, particularly lighting and air-conditioning controls, using Lotte Group’s own Aimember AI platform.
The company said it plans to broaden the voice interface to other residential services, including parking-location checks, bookings for community facilities and energy management. A Lotte Construction representative said the group would continue expanding AI residential products into a broader “smart living platform” linking everyday services with housing data. Separately, the company has also developed an AI multilingual translation model for construction sites to help foreign workers communicate more easily.
