Matech unveils the world's thinnest wireless power bank at 4.8mm

Kyoto-based Matech introduces the MagOn Air 3000, a remarkably slim MagSafe-compatible power bank boasting a capacity above 3,000mAh and a groundbreaking thickness of just 4.8mm, setting a new global standard for portable charging devices.

MATECH has launched a new MagSafe-compatible wireless power bank, the MagOn Air 3000, and is marketing it around an unusually slim profile. According to the company’s announcement and product listings, the device is 4.8mm thick, which makes it thinner than the 5.6mm iPhone Air, and it weighs about 72g. MATECH says that its custom lithium-polymer cell allows it to combine that slim design with a 3,000mAh battery.

The company also claims the model is, as of 1 June 2026, the world’s thinnest power bank with a capacity above 3,000mAh, based on its own research. In practical terms, the format is aimed at users who want an accessory that sits closely against the back of an iPhone without adding much bulk. The body measures about 71mm wide and 103mm high, and MATECH says the device has been designed to remain comfortable in a pocket or bag.

The MagOn Air 3000 supports wireless charging through MagSafe-compatible iPhones, with Qi output rated at up to 7.5W. It can also charge through USB-C, and the product supports pass-through charging, allowing the battery itself to be recharged while it is simultaneously topping up a phone. MATECH says the built-in display shows battery level, charging time, temperature, foreign-object detection and pass-through status in real time. The unit is listed as compliant with Japan’s PSE safety requirements.

At launch, the device is being sold in black and silver for 5,990 yen including tax through MATECH’s official Amazon store. Amazon is offering a 30% points rebate until 11 October, which the company says lowers the effective cost to about 4,193 yen. The promotion is time-limited and may end early if stock runs out. MATECH, founded in Kyoto in 2016, presents the product as part of a wider effort to develop compact consumer electronics that emphasise design and portability.
