Garmin Enduro 4 sets new benchmark with near three-month solar-powered battery life

Garmin launches the Enduro 4, a highly durable smartwatch designed for ultra-endurance athletes, boasting unprecedented battery life and enhanced training features.

Garmin has added another ultra-endurance model to its outdoor line-up with the Enduro 4, a smartwatch aimed squarely at runners, hikers and multi-day athletes who value runtime over OLED brightness. The new model keeps the brand’s familiar solar-assisted formula, pairing a Power Sapphire lens with a 1.4-inch memory-in-pixel display and a 51mm case that weighs 66g. Garmin says the watch is available now at $899.99 in the US, matching the launch price of its predecessor.

Battery life remains the main attraction. Garmin says the Enduro 4 can last up to 90 days in smartwatch mode with solar charging and up to 320 hours in GPS activity mode under the same conditions. Those figures depend on strong sunlight, with the company basing them on 50,000-lux exposure for several hours a day. In more typical use, the non-solar ratings fall to 36 days in smartwatch mode and 120 hours in GPS mode, which is still unusually long by mainstream smartwatch standards.

The Enduro 4 is less about a dramatic redesign than about a more capable platform under the bonnet. According to Garmin, it borrows the updated processor and expanded software stack from the Fenix 9 range, bringing 50% more RAM, faster map panning and a new perspective view for terrain planning. Storage also doubles to 64GB, which should make room for more maps and activity data.

Garmin has also pushed harder on training tools. The watch adds grade-adjusted pace targets, stamina metrics and Garmin Epic, a feature that combines multi-day efforts into a single shareable record in Garmin Connect. The company is clearly targeting athletes who spend long stretches away from power outlets and who need navigation, pacing and recovery data to work together over extended efforts.
