Huawei Watch GT 7 targets athletes with 21-day battery and indoor ski tracking

Huawei’s Watch GT 7 and GT 7 Pro pair silicon-based batteries with expanded sports tracking, including indoor skiing, cycling and golf features.

Huawei has refreshed its Watch GT line with the Watch GT 7 and Watch GT 7 Pro, placing the emphasis on endurance and sport tracking rather than a simple cosmetic update. The company says both models use a new silicon-based battery architecture designed to raise energy density without increasing the size of the watch, allowing the range to preserve the long battery life that has become one of its main selling points. Huawei says the 46mm Watch GT 7 can last up to 21 days, while the 41mm version is rated for up to 14 days; the Watch GT 7 Pro is also rated at up to 21 days.

The new generation also brings a more ambitious approach to fitness monitoring. Huawei has added a new IMU sensor alongside its TruSense health platform, with the aim of improving the accuracy of measurements during exercise and day-to-day health tracking. The watches support more than 100 sports modes and cover core wellness readings such as heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep, nutrition and emotional wellbeing. Huawei is also continuing to position the series as a broad fitness tool rather than a niche sports device, with support for services such as Strava and Komoot and compatibility with both Android phones and Apple’s iPhone.

Among the more specialised additions is Indoor Ski, a mode built for indoor skiing sessions that records metrics including training time, slope, speed, heart rate and blood oxygen saturation. Huawei is also extending its ski coverage outdoors, with information on more than 3,000 ski resorts presented in map form with location and difficulty details. In another sign that the company is targeting active users, the GT 7 Pro adds advanced features for cycling and golf, while Huawei’s own materials also highlight a Physical Readiness Score on the standard GT 7.

Huawei has also redesigned the strap system with EasyCross, which is intended to improve fit and reduce excess strap material during exercise. The system is available on selected GT 7 variants and across all GT 7 Pro models. According to Huawei, the wider range of finishes is meant to let buyers choose between more sport-focused and more classic designs: the GT 7 comes in 41mm and 46mm sizes, while the Pro is only offered in 46mm. The Pro model further distinguishes itself with a ceramic nano-tech bezel, titanium alloy frame and higher protection, with Huawei citing 5ATM and IP69 resistance.

The watches are priced from €299 for the Watch GT 7 and €429 for the Watch GT 7 Pro. Huawei is also offering a launch promotion with a €70 discount on the GT 7 series through a code listed by the company. On top of that, Huawei is bundling a service plan called Care Total Protection, which it says provides two years of cover for issues including accidental screen damage, battery replacement if capacity falls below 85%, and damage to the rear cover or rotating crown.
