TECNO fits a 6,000mAh battery into its 6.39mm CAMON Slim 5G

The CAMON Slim 5G pairs an unusually thin design with a 6,000mAh battery, AMOLED display and durable build, although gaming performance and software support remain mid-range compromises.

TECNO’s CAMON Slim 5G is built around an unusually difficult brief: stay extremely thin, yet still avoid the battery compromises that usually come with a slender handset. On paper, and in practice according to the review, it mostly succeeds. At 6.39mm thick, it is far slimmer than the average mid-range phone, but it still carries a 6,000mAh battery, a combination that immediately sets it apart in a market where thinness often means reduced endurance.

That narrow profile is matched by a design that aims to feel more refined than merely minimal. The handset uses a velvety finish, a subtle two-tone rear surface and decorative branding that give it more visual character than many rivals. Two colour options are offered, including Burgundy Red and a more distinctive Rebel Pink. More importantly for a device this thin, TECNO has not treated durability as an afterthought. The phone is rated IP69K for water resistance and carries MIL-STD-810H certification, while the box includes a hard case and tempered glass protector. In a category where slim devices can feel fragile, that is a meaningful part of the proposition.

The front is dominated by a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel is described as sharp, bright and well suited to outdoor use, with vivid colour reproduction that fits the phone’s premium-leaning ambitions. There is, however, an important practical limitation: at the time of the review, only core system apps were running at 144Hz, while most other apps were limited to lower rates unless manually adjusted. That makes the display specification look more impressive than the day-to-day experience in some cases, although the screen still appears to be one of the device’s strongest assets. Audio is more functional than exceptional, with dual speakers that are acceptable for casual use but not a highlight.

Camera performance is another area where the CAMON Slim 5G aims to punch above its weight. The main camera performs best in daylight, producing bright images with good detail and natural-looking colour. Portrait mode is a particular strength, with pleasing skin tones and smooth background blur, while the 2x zoom option offers a useful middle ground for framing. TECNO’s FlashSnap feature is also notable, especially for moving subjects, because it is designed to reduce missed moments by launching quickly through a double press of the volume-down button. The ultrawide camera is serviceable rather than outstanding, and low-light shots can become noisy, although the Super Night mode improves them. Selfies are clean and sharp, and video stabilisation is good enough for everyday social content, even if the system is not positioned as a serious creator tool.

Performance is adequate for mainstream use rather than heavy gaming. The phone runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e processor, paired with 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. General navigation, social media use and messaging are smooth, but demanding games show the limits of the chipset, particularly at higher graphics settings or in longer sessions. Benchmarks place it firmly in the capable-mid-range category rather than near flagship territory, which aligns with the real-world experience. The software layer, HiOS 16.3 on Android 16, adds a broad set of AI functions across the interface, camera and gallery. Some of these feel more novelty than necessity, but the overall system is reasonably tidy, and TECNO’s promise of three major Android upgrades and five years of security support is a welcome signal for buyers who keep phones for longer.

The battery story is arguably the strongest argument for the device. A 6,000mAh cell in a 6.39mm chassis is the defining hardware achievement here, and the review found that it comfortably lasts a full day of mixed use. Charging is handled by the bundled 45W adapter, which brings the phone to full capacity in about an hour and 22 minutes. TECNO also sells a MagBadge accessory, a small magnetic display unit that can work as a rear preview screen for selfies or as a remote shutter. It is not essential, but it adds a practical and playful extension to the camera setup. At ₱27,999 for the 8GB+256GB version, or ₱24,999 for the TikTok Shop-exclusive 128GB model, the CAMON Slim 5G faces tough competition from thicker phones with larger batteries or longer software support. Even so, its appeal is clear: it is one of the few devices that combines genuine slimness, a large battery, a capable main camera and better-than-expected durability without turning into a compromise-heavy novelty.
