Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo gets 4,883mAh battery rating ahead of launch

Apple’s first foldable iPhone has been listed with a 4,883mAh battery, an A energy-efficiency rating and up to 44 hours of claimed video playback on its cover screen.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, called the iPhone Duo, has now had its battery capacity confirmed through Europe’s product energy labelling registry, adding a fresh technical detail to a device that is due to go on sale later this month. The listing points to a rated battery capacity of 4,883mAh, while Apple’s own product page says the handset is available for pre-order and will reach customers from 23 October. Reuters-style reporting on the launch has already placed the device among Apple’s most significant recent hardware releases, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro line, AirPods 5 and the Apple Watch Series 12.

The European Product Registry for Energy Labelling identifies the phone under model number A3720 and gives it an A grade for energy efficiency. It also assigns a B grade for drop resistance and a C grade for repairability, while listing IP68 protection against dust and water. That regulatory filing appears to line up with independent reporting from MacRumors and The Apple Post, both of which said Apple’s dual-cell design combines two batteries rated at 2,962mAh and 1,921mAh into a single power system managed by iOS.

Apple’s published specifications place the iPhone Duo’s endurance at up to 31 hours of video playback on the 7.6-inch internal foldable display and up to 44 hours on the 5.4-inch cover screen. The company also says the phone can deliver up to 22 hours of use when both screens are involved, and that five minutes of charging can provide as much as five hours of video playback. The Mac Observer separately reported that with a 60W-capable adapter, the phone can reach 50 per cent charge in about 20 minutes, underlining that battery performance is being positioned as one of the device’s key selling points.

The phone is already listed for pre-order on Apple’s site, with sales due to begin on 23 October 2026. In India, the starting price for the 256GB model is ₹2,99,900, according to the TV9 Hindi report. Apple says the device runs on the A20 Pro chip and includes a dual rear camera system, with the larger foldable screen serving as the centrepiece of its hardware pitch. For a first-generation foldable, the mix of a high-capacity battery, premium pricing and unusually long claimed playback times suggests Apple is targeting users who value both portability and endurance.
