Apple has issued the first release candidate for iOS 27.2 and its wider software family, putting the updates on course for a public release later this month.
Apple has seeded the first release candidate of iOS 27.2 to developers, signalling that the update is close to public launch. The same build wave also includes release candidates for iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and Xcode 27.2, with build numbers now available for developers to install. According to iPhone in Canada and MacRumors, this is the first RC after the fourth beta cycle, and it arrives as Apple moves the software towards its final release.
The update package is expected to bring a redesigned Health app, expanded Siri AI language support and changes across Apple’s media software, including updates to the TV app. Apple has also been testing Group FaceTime Dual Capture, new Apple TV app profiles, refinements to Podcasts, and a new Music icon and colour scheme. However, 9to5Mac reported that the overhauled Health app was pulled back to its earlier form in beta 4, even though the broader redesign is still expected to ship in the final release.
The significance of a release candidate is that, in most cases, it is the last step before the public build, aside from any final bug fixes. MacRumors said the public release is expected later this month, while iPhone in Canada noted that equivalent public beta builds should follow shortly and that the update can be installed by selecting the developer beta channel in iPhone settings. The RC also arrives after earlier betas suggested Apple may be timing the release to coincide with broader changes to its software line-up, including support for new Apple Intelligence features and additional Siri languages.
