Oppo F35 Pro 5G bets on 8,000mAh battery and flagship selfies at Rs. 49,999

Oppo’s 10th-anniversary F-series phone brings a 50-megapixel selfie camera, 144Hz AMOLED display and unusually large battery, but its higher price makes the upgrade harder to justify for recent buyers.

Oppo’s F series has reached a notable milestone in India, with the F35 Pro 5G arriving as the 10th-anniversary model for a line that the company has long positioned around selfies and value. Gadgets 360 noted that the series began with the Oppo F1 Plus in 2016, the handset that introduced a 16-megapixel front camera to the segment and helped push selfie performance into mainstream buying decisions. The new Pro model continues that theme, but it does so at a distinctly higher price than the previous generation.

The design is familiar rather than revolutionary. Gadgets 360’s review said the F35 Pro 5G closely resembles the earlier F33 Pro 5G, with a flat back, a raised glass camera island and Oppo’s decorative rear treatment that the company calls Smile Curve Design. The handset is available in Sunset Orange, Twilight Brown and Wave Blue, with the orange finish described as the most attention-grabbing of the three. Despite its 210g weight and slightly increased thickness, the phone is said to remain comfortable in the hand, while the matte rear surface helps resist fingerprints. Oppo has also fitted the device with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, giving it an unusually strong level of dust and water protection for its class.

The display is one of the clearest upgrades. According to Gadgets 360, the F35 Pro 5G moves to a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, up from the smaller screen on its predecessor. In practical use, that means sharper text, smoother scrolling and better contrast for video playback. The review said darker scenes in films and television showed convincing black levels and natural colour balance, making the phone a competent entertainment device in its price range. The larger panel is also paired with a 300 per cent volume boost option, which Oppo uses to underline the handset’s media credentials.

Performance is improved, though not transformed into that of a gaming phone. The device runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Max, and Gadgets 360 found that daily tasks such as messaging, browsing, navigation and photography were handled without major difficulty. The 8GB RAM variant performed more smoothly than the 6GB base model, which is a point in the new phone’s favour as well as a reminder that the entry-level configuration is less generous than before. Synthetic benchmark scores placed the handset well ahead of the F33 Pro 5G, but still far below upper-mid-range rivals such as the OnePlus Nord 6. Light games are manageable, yet more demanding titles exposed frame drops and stutter, particularly after longer sessions.

Camera hardware remains central to the proposition. The rear system combines a 50-megapixel main sensor with an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, while the front camera rises to 50 megapixels. According to Gadgets 360, the main camera produces lively daytime shots with solid dynamic range, and portrait mode is more natural than on the previous model, especially in skin tones. The ultrawide lens is much less convincing and appears best reserved for occasional group shots or wider scenes. The front camera, however, is the main attraction: the review described selfies as detailed, well exposed and largely free from noise, with good separation between bright and shaded areas. That aligns with Oppo’s long-running strategy of making the F series a front-camera showcase rather than a pure performance play.

Battery life is another major strength. Oppo has packed an 8,000mAh cell into the handset, and Gadgets 360 reported screen-on time of roughly eight to nine hours with mixed use, including gaming, video and photography. In benchmark testing, the phone lasted 22 hours and 41 minutes in PCMark’s battery test. Charging is equally brisk, with the bundled 80W adapter taking the phone to half charge in around 30 minutes and to full in just over an hour. On that basis, the F35 Pro 5G looks like a strong all-rounder for buyers who value endurance, fast replenishment and a capable selfie camera. The main question is whether the higher starting price, now set at Rs. 49,999 for the base 6GB + 128GB model, is justified against close rivals and against Oppo’s own earlier generation. Gadgets 360’s verdict was that the upgrade makes sense for owners of older models, but less so for those who already bought the F33 Pro.
