Sony’s new PS5 Pulse headset brings premium audio features to a $99.99 price point

Sony’s new Pulse wireless headset launches on 19 November 2026 with planar magnetic drivers, AI-enhanced noise rejection and PlayStation Link connectivity, while pre-orders open on 29 October.

Sony has set 19 November 2026 as the launch date for its new PlayStation Pulse wireless headset, with pre-orders due to open on 29 October and a retail price of $99.99, according to the company’s PlayStation blog. The headset will arrive in White and Midnight Black, and Sony says initial availability will cover the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and several other markets, with further regions to be confirmed later.

The new model sits below the Pulse Elite in Sony’s audio line-up, undercutting that headset by about $50 while keeping planar magnetic driver technology in the range. Sony says the larger custom drivers in the Pulse headset are designed to produce fuller bass and retain the clarity associated with its higher-end model, while also improving positional accuracy in games so that directional cues are easier to identify.

Sony is also pitching the headset’s microphone as a practical upgrade for online play. The built-in mic uses AI-enhanced noise rejection, which the company says should reduce background sound and make voice chat clearer in busy environments. On connectivity, the headset supports both Bluetooth and PlayStation Link, Sony’s wireless audio system for compatible devices including PS5, PlayStation Portal, Mac and PC. The company says PlayStation Link is intended to deliver lossless audio with very low latency, which is important for gaming where timing and sync matter.

The announcement also points to a broader refresh of Sony’s gaming audio range. The company says a higher-end Pulse Edge headset is planned for early 2027, with features such as active noise cancellation and a detachable boom microphone. For now, the new Pulse model appears aimed at buyers who want much of the premium audio technology without the higher price of Sony’s top-tier headset.
