SwitchBot’s new light bars bring 12-zone colour to Apple Home

SwitchBot’s new RGBICWW light bars combine multicolour effects, adjustable white light and native Apple Home support without requiring a hub.

SwitchBot has added a new pair of smart light bars that aim to do more than simply fill a room with colour. According to 9to5Mac, the RGBICWW model combines addressable RGB lighting with separate warm-white and cool-white LEDs, so users can choose decorative effects for entertainment or proper white light for work, reading and other everyday use.

The company says the white-light range runs from 2,200K to 6,500K and the bars can output up to 800 lumens across the pair. Each bar contains six independently controlled RGBIC zones, giving 12 zones in total, which allows gradients and multi-colour patterns rather than a single flat hue. The lights also include 26 dynamic presets and six music-reactive modes, with a built-in microphone handling sound synchronisation without the need for extra accessories.

Connectivity is another of the main selling points. The light bars work with Apple Home natively over Matter and Wi-Fi, so no SwitchBot Hub is required for core control. In Apple Home or Siri, users can handle the usual functions such as switching the lights on and off, adjusting brightness, changing colour temperature and setting colour. More advanced options, including zone-level effects and scene creation, remain in SwitchBot’s own app, which is typical for Matter devices with richer feature sets.

SwitchBot has also included a physical wired controller for quicker adjustments, which will suit users who do not always want to reach for a phone. The bars can be mounted in several ways too, with magnets for compatible metal surfaces, adhesive mounting as an alternative, and the option to place them horizontally, vertically, behind a monitor or TV, or upright on the supplied stands.
