ASUS Vivobook S refresh pairs 30-hour battery life with AI-ready Snapdragon chips

ASUS has expanded its Vivobook S range with two Snapdragon X Copilot+ PCs and a 16-inch Intel model, combining larger 16:10 displays, lightweight metal designs and long battery life.

ASUS has refreshed its Vivobook S line with three new laptops aimed at users who want larger screens, lighter chassis and long battery life in a portable format. The range now includes the Vivobook S14 and Vivobook S16 with Snapdragon X processors, alongside an Intel-powered Vivobook S16, all of them positioned as machines for study, office work, content creation and entertainment.

The new models are built around 16:10 displays with slim bezels, giving them a more expansive viewing area for split-screen work, online classes and video playback. ASUS says the 14-inch Vivobook S14 has an 87 per cent screen-to-body ratio, while the 16-inch Snapdragon model reaches 89 per cent. The Intel version goes further, with a 16-inch IPS panel at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, 100 per cent sRGB coverage and a 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio. TÜV Rheinland-certified low blue light and flicker-free technology are included to reduce eye strain, and the display on the Intel model supports a variable refresh rate from 30Hz to 144Hz. Its 180-degree hinge also makes it easier to share the screen with others.

On the Snapdragon-based machines, ASUS is leaning heavily on local AI processing. The Snapdragon X platform includes a neural processing unit rated at up to 45 TOPS, which the company says is intended to support on-device AI tasks such as drafting ideas, summarising content and organising information. These Copilot+ PCs are also meant to handle everyday multitasking efficiently, while creative work can be supported through applications such as Canva and CapCut. Security features include an FHD infrared camera for Windows Hello face sign-in and Microsoft Pluton protection for passwords and encryption keys. Audio support comes via Snapdragon Sound and Dolby Audio Premium.

The Intel-based Vivobook S16 uses an Intel Core 7 processor from the Series 3 family, with an integrated NPU for AI features and a performance mode that can draw up to 30 watts for heavier workloads. ASUS says battery life reaches up to 30 hours on the Snapdragon models and more than 15 hours on the Intel variant, while fast charging can restore the battery to 60 per cent in 49 minutes. USB-C charging is supported across the range, including from compatible power banks. The Snapdragon versions also support MyASUS Battery Health Management, which can limit charging to 80 per cent to help preserve battery longevity.

The three notebooks share slim metal designs, with the Vivobook S14 weighing 1.28kg and measuring at least 14.9mm thick, while the Snapdragon S16 weighs 1.60kg. The Intel model weighs 1.50kg and measures 15.8mm. ASUS says all three have been tested to the US military standard MIL-STD 810H. Connectivity is broad for this class, with two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and a combined 3.5mm audio jack, while the Snapdragon systems can drive up to three external displays. ASUS is also bundling three months of Google AI Pro for eligible buyers of the Snapdragon models in supported markets, with access to Gemini features and 5TB of cloud storage. The new Vivobook S laptops are available now in Germany and Austria.
