Asus has released firmware updates addressing vulnerabilities that could let attackers gain administrator access, disrupt service or alter affected routers.
Asus has urged owners of certain routers to install its latest firmware as soon as possible after uncovering several security flaws that could allow unauthorised access or disrupt device operation. The company says the problems affect select wireless models and have been graded as severe, with one issue reaching 8.7 on the CVSS 4.0 scale, a level that indicates a high risk to exposed devices. Asus has published the fixes on its support site and says users should update without delay.
One of the vulnerabilities, tracked as CVE-2026-75775, affects some routers running the 3.0.0.6_102 firmware line. According to Asus, an attacker on the same local network could in some circumstances gain administrator privileges without authenticating first. The company has also identified CVE-2026-75779 and CVE-2026-93489, with severity scores of 8.6 and 8.7 respectively, highlighting that the issue set is broad rather than isolated to a single bug.
The first wave of fixes, released on 20 October, covered devices using the 3.0.0.4_386 and 3.0.0.4_388 firmware branches, while a further update followed on 23 October for the 3.0.0.6_102 branch. Asus says the vulnerabilities differ by software generation, but the possible consequences are similar: unauthorised access, interruption of service, or changes to a router’s operating state.
For users, the practical advice is straightforward. Asus recommends checking the router’s administration interface or the company’s support pages for the latest firmware, then applying the update as soon as it is available. Until that is done, it advises using strong passwords, disabling remote access over WAN and limiting connections to trusted devices. Owners of older routers that no longer receive security patches face a harder choice: Asus says those products should be replaced, as no further fixes are likely to arrive.
