OPPO turns its compact Pad Mini into a matte-screen notebook for reading and sketching

The Pad Mini Matte Display Edition combines an anti-reflective 8.8-inch OLED screen with flagship performance, fast charging and stylus-focused software features.

OPPO has broadened its Pad Mini range with a Matte Display Edition that pushes the device towards reading, annotation and sketching rather than pure entertainment. The compact tablet keeps an 8.8-inch OLED panel, but adds an anti-reflective finish intended to soften glare from indoor lighting and make the screen feel closer to paper when writing or drawing. With a 2520 x 1680 resolution, 344ppi density and a 3:2 aspect ratio, it is pitched as a small-format device that should work well for documents, portrait pages and handwritten notes.

The company says the panel supports an adaptive refresh rate from 60Hz to 144Hz, although the top setting is only available in selected applications. OPPO also lists 800 nits of typical brightness and up to 1,600 nits in high-brightness mode, alongside a Reader Mode with softer colour settings. That combination suggests the tablet is being positioned as an eye-comfort product as much as a performance device, while still retaining the sharpness and contrast expected from an OLED screen.

Inside, OPPO has paired the tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The battery is rated at 8,000mAh, with support for up to 67W SUPERVOOC charging. However, the charging specifications also list 55W PPS and 13.5W USB Power Delivery support, which means a charger labelled at 67W will not necessarily deliver that full speed in every case. The tablet also carries a 13-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front camera, USB 3.2 Gen 1, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.

The software layer is built around ColorOS 16, which brings movable app windows and file-sharing features across devices. OPPO says iPhone and iPad transfers use O+ Connect and require iOS or iPadOS 15 or later, while compatible Android phones rely on Quick Share. Separate network-sharing functions depend on both devices running ColorOS 16 or later. The tablet is shown in Lavender Purple, and regional listings in India and Malaysia indicate that buyers should check local bundles carefully, particularly because the OPPO Pencil 3 Pro appears to be sold separately in at least some markets.
