Huawei’s Watch 6 Pro adds connectivity while the GT 7 Pro wins on battery life

Huawei’s premium smartwatches share much of the same hardware and health tracking, but the Watch 6 Pro prioritises LTE and features while the GT 7 Pro delivers substantially longer battery life.

Huawei’s Watch 6 Pro Space Edition and Watch GT 7 Pro sit in the same premium segment, but they are aimed at different buyers. According to Notebookcheck’s comparison, both watches share a titanium-based build, an AMOLED panel at 466 x 466 pixels and a broad set of sports and health functions, yet the Watch 6 Pro is positioned as the more connected and more feature-rich device, while the GT 7 Pro is tuned for endurance.

Design is one of the first points of separation. Notebookcheck noted that the Watch 6 Pro Space Edition uses a titanium case with a ceramic bezel and gold accents, while the GT 7 Pro is slightly lighter at 55.5 grams before the strap, compared with 60 grams for the Watch 6 Pro. Other specification listings describe the Watch 6 Pro as using a ceramic back and the GT 7 Pro a glass back, though both keep a premium metal finish. The Watch 6 Pro also has the larger screen at 1.5 inches, against 1.47 inches on the GT 7 Pro, and Notebookcheck recorded peak brightness of 3,637 cd/m² for the Watch 6 Pro in testing.

The biggest practical difference is connectivity. The Watch 6 Pro supports eSIM and Wi-Fi, meaning it can operate more independently from a paired phone, whereas the GT 7 Pro does not offer standalone mobile connectivity. That advantage is less transformative than it first appears because HarmonyOS still limits the app selection, reducing the real-world benefit of LTE on a watch. Even so, for users who want a smartwatch that can stay online without a handset nearby, the Watch 6 Pro has the clearer edge.

Health and fitness tracking remain strong on both models. Each watch offers ECG, heart-rate monitoring, blood oxygen readings, dual-band GNSS and a wide range of exercise tools. The Watch 6 Pro goes further with an X-Tap sensor that enables fingertip-based health measurements, which Huawei presents as a more convenient way to collect certain readings. In broader comparisons, both watches are described as using an extensive sensor array for tracking movement, altitude and wellness metrics, although the exact sensor list varies slightly by source.

Battery life is where the GT 7 Pro pulls ahead decisively. Huawei claims up to 12 days of typical use for the GT 7 Pro, against 4.5 days for the Watch 6 Pro. Notebookcheck’s own testing put the Watch 6 Pro at around six days with the always-on display switched off, and four days and 17 hours with always-on enabled. Other reviews of the GT 7 Pro have also praised its stamina, with some testers saying it can last about a week with heavy use, or even longer with more moderate settings. For buyers who value autonomy above all else, that endurance is the GT 7 Pro’s strongest selling point.
