Affinity’s unified creative app is finally coming to iPad

The new iPad app will bring Affinity’s photo, vector, layout and illustration tools together in one free product, with a targeted 3 November 2026 release.

Affinity’s all-in-one creative app is set to reach the iPad after a long wait from users who have already seen the redesigned desktop version on Mac and Windows. Digital Trends reported that the tablet edition is being positioned as the same unified product already available on desktop, rather than a separate continuation of the older iPad app line. That matters because files created in the new Affinity app do not open in the earlier V2 iPad apps, making the forthcoming release significant for anyone working across devices.

The iPad version is a logical fit for Affinity’s workflow. According to the company’s announcement, the app is designed to take advantage of Apple Pencil input, including pressure, tilt and barrel roll support, so users can move from sketching to vector refinement in the same file. It is also intended to cover RAW photo editing, illustration, typography and print layout, which gives it the scope of Affinity’s former Photo, Designer and Publisher tools in a single package. That breadth makes the iPad release more than a convenience update; it is an attempt to turn Apple’s tablet into a full production device for creative work.

Compatibility appears to be a central part of the pitch. The app is expected to support common professional formats including PSD, AI, INDD, IDML, PDF and SVG, which should make it easier to bring existing projects into the new environment. Related reporting from other technology sites says the iPad launch is targeted for November 2026, but no exact day has been formally confirmed. Techyorker noted that Affinity’s public FAQ still describes iPadOS as “coming soon”, suggesting that the timing remains a launch window rather than a locked App Store date.

Pricing is also likely to draw attention. Digital Trends reported that Affinity for iPad will be free for individual users, with the core photo, vector, layout and sketching tools available without a subscription. Canva AI Studio features, however, will require a paid Canva plan. The company says pre-orders are open and that the app will be available to download from 3 November 2026, although the wider reporting suggests readers should treat that date as an announced target until the release appears in the App Store.
