The €179.99 Fitbit Edge arrives in Italy with a larger AMOLED display, built-in GPS, advanced health tracking and a replaceable battery.
Google has brought the Fitbit Edge to Italy, pricing the new fitness tracker at €179.99 through the Google Store and offering payment in 12 monthly instalments. The device, unveiled on 12 October, is positioned as a bridge between Fitbit’s simpler trackers and Google’s Pixel Watch line, taking over much of the role once filled by the Charge 6 while adding features usually associated with a smartwatch. According to reports from Smartphonology and Matrice Digitale, Italian availability begins on Tuesday 27 October.
The most visible change is the larger screen. Google says the Fitbit Edge uses a 1.34-inch AMOLED display with 46% more usable area than earlier Fitbit trackers, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The case is made from recycled aluminium, measures 11.5mm thick and brings back a physical side button. The tracker is also rated IP68 and is water-resistant to 50 metres, while Google has described it as the first Fitbit designed to be repairable, with a replaceable battery.
Health and activity tracking remain central to the device. Google lists integrated GPS, an altimeter, continuous heart-rate monitoring, ECG, blood oxygen sensing, skin-temperature tracking and automatic recognition of roughly 100 activities, alongside more than 50 workout modes. The company also says its Health Guardian functions can alert users to unusually high or low heart rates and surface wellness trends linked to blood pressure and insulin resistance, although these are not diagnostic tools.
Battery life is rated at up to seven days, with Google claiming that a five-minute charge can provide a day of use. The Fitbit Edge works with Android 11 or later and with iPhones running iOS 16.4 or later. Google is also tying the device more closely to its subscription services: the Gemini-based Health Coach requires Google Health Premium, although buyers receive three free months. Colours listed for the Italian market include Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon, with accessory options such as Active Sport, Performance Loop, Magnet and Metal Links.
