Anker targets premium open-ear audio with Soundcore AeroClip 2

Anker’s Soundcore AeroClip 2 combines a clip-on, non-sealing design with LDAC, call-focused microphones and a 12 mm driver, as open-ear earbuds gain momentum among commuters and active users.

Anker’s Soundcore brand has launched the AeroClip 2, a clip-on open-ear earbud that keeps the ear canal unobstructed while aiming to preserve awareness of nearby sounds. The design sits on the outer ear rather than sealing inside it, a format that the company positions as better suited to commuting, exercise and other situations where safety and situational awareness matter. Anker says the fit was shaped around extensive ear-profile testing, with the hardware intended to remain stable through movement while still feeling light enough for long wear.

The audio hardware centres on a 12 mm driver, with LDAC support for higher-resolution wireless playback on compatible devices. Notebookcheck reported that the earbuds also include Whisper Mode for calls, while Anker says the product uses its ANKER Thus AI chip, four microphones and two voice pickup units to improve speech capture in noisy settings. The company has also highlighted a Guinness World Records certification for the highest speech quality score in the open-ear clip-on category, a claim that underlines how strongly it is pitching the model’s calling performance.

Pricing and availability vary by market. Notebookcheck said the AeroClip 2 went on sale on 22 September at €179.99, while TechRadar’s review listed the earbuds at $169.99 in the US and £159.99 in the UK. That places them in the premium end of the open-ear segment, where comfort, call clarity and feature sets increasingly matter as much as sound quality. A Pro version is also expected in January 2027, according to Notebookcheck, suggesting Anker is planning to extend the range rather than treating this as a one-off release.

TechRadar’s review described the AeroClip 2 as very light and notably more comfortable than many rivals, while also pointing to improved call quality and HearID personalisation. That reflects a broader shift in the wearable audio market, where open-ear products are gaining traction as alternatives to in-ear models for users who want music or calls without full isolation. In that context, the AeroClip 2 looks like a targeted attempt to combine daily practicality, clearer voice pickup and higher-end wireless audio in a form factor that remains unusual but increasingly relevant.
