Dynabook’s sub-1kg V83/PA packs 5G and full-size connectivity into a 2-in-1

Dynabook’s new V83/PA combines a 13.3-inch touchscreen, up to 32GB of RAM, optional 5G and a broad range of ports in a convertible chassis weighing about 990 grams.

Dynabook, the Japanese laptop brand owned by Sharp, has launched the V83/PA, a compact 2-in-1 aimed at office staff and business travellers who need a machine that is easy to carry but still capable of handling everyday professional workloads. The model has been introduced in Japan and combines a convertible design with a business-focused specification sheet, including optional mobile connectivity and a wide selection of ports, according to reports from Notebookcheck and TechNetBooks.

At the top of the range, the V83/PA can be configured with Intel Core Ultra 7 365 from the Panther Lake family, an eight-core chip that Dynabook positions as sufficient for office applications and media use rather than heavy creative work. Other options include Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 5 335 and Core Ultra 7 355 variants. Memory can go up to 32GB of LPDDR5X, while storage reaches 1TB on NVMe solid-state drives, giving the machine more headroom than many ultraportables in the same class.

The design centres on a 13.3-inch touchscreen with a WUXGA resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio, paired with a 360-degree hinge so the device can switch between laptop and tablet modes. TechNetBooks reported a weight of 989 grams, while other coverage put the figure at 990 grams, underscoring how light the chassis is for a convertible with this level of connectivity. Dynabook also appears to have built in support for a digital stylus, which should make note-taking and sketching more practical for mobile users.

Despite its size, the V83/PA includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, HDMI, a microSD card slot, a headset jack and Ethernet. Wireless features cover Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, with 5G available as an option through a SIM slot. Other hardware includes a front camera with facial recognition, a fingerprint reader, stereo speakers and a battery life claim of up to 16 hours. For buyers in the business segment, the appeal is clear: a very light machine that does not force too many compromises on connectivity.
