The new Redmi K-series handset combines a 10,000mAh battery and 100W charging with a 165Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi K100 in China, extending the K-series with a handset that puts battery capacity and sustained performance at the centre of its design. The new model sits below the K100 Pro and K100 Pro Max, and Xiaomi has also shown it in a Firefly Green finish ahead of wider sales in its home market. Pre-orders are already open in China, while the company has not yet confirmed any international release. According to reports from Gizmochina, MegaMobileContent and GizGuide, the launch took place on 28 October in China, with Xiaomi also using Weibo to confirm the key specifications before the event.
The most striking specification is the battery. Xiaomi says the Redmi K100 uses a 10,000mAh cell, making it one of the largest batteries ever fitted to a mainstream smartphone from the company. It supports 100W wired charging and 27W reverse charging, which should make the phone useful not only for long runtimes but also as a power source for accessories or other devices. That emphasis on endurance has been matched by hardware intended to avoid bottlenecks elsewhere, including Xiaomi’s own D2 gaming chip and support for features aimed at improving frame generation, resolution upscaling and other gaming tasks, according to the company and subsequent coverage.
The front of the handset carries a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 x 1280, a 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. Xiaomi has also added DC dimming and a 1-nit low-brightness mode for use in darker environments. Coverage from TechNetBooks and GizGuide says the panel is tuned for eye comfort as well as speed, while Xiaomi has said the handset supports 165Hz gameplay in more than 40 titles. The broader message is clear: this is a device aimed at users who care about display fluidity, gaming responsiveness and battery life in equal measure.
Inside, the Redmi K100 runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra memory and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage in the higher-end configuration, according to Gizmochina. The phone also includes a dual rear camera system led by a 50-megapixel main sensor, an in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers tuned with Sound by Bose, and IP68 resistance for dust and water protection, according to Livemint. Pricing in China starts at CNY 2,999 for the 12GB plus 256GB model and rises to CNY 3,899 for the 16GB plus 512GB version. Xiaomi has not said when, or if, the Redmi K100 will reach other markets, though reports suggest it could later appear outside China under a different name.
