Apple has opened pre-orders in India for its refreshed 24-inch iMac, adding an M6 chip, Apple Intelligence support, Wi-Fi 7 and a 4.5K Retina display.
Apple has unveiled a refreshed 24-inch iMac in India, moving the all-in-one desktop to its new M6 chip and pairing it with a 4.5K Retina display. According to News18’s report, Apple is also positioning the machine around on-device AI performance, with support for Apple Intelligence and the company’s latest software stack.
The base model is priced at Rs.1,74,900 and includes a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory and 256GB of storage. Apple is also offering a higher-specification version with a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU at Rs.1,99,900, while buyers can configure the system with up to 32GB of memory and as much as 2TB of internal storage. Pre-orders are open now, with sales in India and other markets due to begin on November 6.
Apple says the M6 chip is built using a 2-nanometre process, a claim that places the processor among the company’s most advanced desktop silicon to date. The firm says the new iMac can deliver markedly quicker on-device AI prompt processing in LM Studio than the M1-based model, and faster AI performance than the M4 version. It also points to Neural Accelerators in every GPU core and a dual 16-core Neural Engine as the hardware foundation for those gains.
The display remains central to the product’s appeal. Apple’s 24-inch panel has a resolution of 4,480 by 2,250 pixels, peak brightness of 500 nits and an optional nano-texture matte glass finish for users working in brighter rooms. For video calls, the machine includes a 12-megapixel front camera with Centre Stage and 1080p recording support, continuing Apple’s emphasis on hybrid work and content creation.
Connectivity has also been updated, with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, up to four Thunderbolt ports and 2.5Gb Ethernet. The new iMac works with Apple’s latest Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, with colour-matched accessories available to complement the seven finishes: Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Silver and Yellow. Taken together, the launch keeps the iMac firmly in the premium desktop category, while making the new model one of Apple’s clearest pushes yet towards AI-centric personal computing.
