ChatGPT moves into Apple users’ inboxes and calendars

OpenAI has added iCloud Mail and Calendar integrations to ChatGPT, allowing users to search messages, draft replies and manage events while keeping the assistant within Apple’s ecosystem.

OpenAI has added iCloud Mail and Calendar support to ChatGPT, extending the assistant’s usefulness beyond general writing and research into everyday personal administration. According to reports from MacRumors and other tech outlets, the new plugins let users search Apple email, sort inboxes, draft replies and manage calendar entries through prompts, bringing ChatGPT closer to the kind of workflow already available with Gmail and Google Calendar.

The integration is limited to Apple’s own services. MacRumors said ChatGPT can work with iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar only, not third-party providers such as Gmail or Outlook. That restriction keeps the feature tightly scoped, but it also means the assistant is aimed at users already committed to Apple’s ecosystem rather than those with mixed email accounts.

OpenAI’s own help material on Apple-related integrations underlines the company’s privacy positioning. The firm says users may connect ChatGPT through Apple’s ecosystem with or without a ChatGPT account, and that data-handling rules depend on whether the assistant is used in a signed-in state or through Apple’s integration path. Separate guidance for iCloud Mail and Calendar also notes the use of an Apple login and an app-specific password, which is intended to limit exposure of the main account credentials.

The feature’s appeal is practical rather than flashy. It gives ChatGPT access to common tasks such as finding messages, checking schedules and updating events, while keeping the connection under the user’s control. Coverage from Gadgets360, TechBriefly and MacGeneration said the tools are available across web, desktop and iOS, and that users can revoke access by removing the relevant password or disconnecting the integration.
