Elecom’s 8-in-1 USB-C dock adds a jog dial and programmable desktop controls

The DST-L080BPBK combines eight connectivity options with four programmable buttons and a central jog dial for shortcuts, audio controls and other desktop tasks.

Elecom has added an unusual twist to the ordinary USB-C dock with the DST-L080BPBK, a compact 8-in-1 unit that doubles as a desktop control surface. According to Elecom, the device pairs four programmable buttons with a central jog dial, allowing users to trigger shortcuts and automate common tasks through the company’s Mouse Assistant software on Windows 10, Windows 11 and macOS 26.

The dock is built around a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 upstream connection for laptops and desktops. Elecom says it then provides a USB-C downstream port, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a 100W USB-C power input for charging, 4K HDMI output at 60Hz, Gigabit Ethernet, and 3.5 mm audio support. It also includes full-size SD and microSD card slots, making it useful for photo and video transfer as well as general peripheral expansion.

The idea is not simply to add more ports, but to place a small set of physical controls within reach of the user. Elecom’s documentation says the buttons and dial can be mapped to custom functions, including shortcut commands and other actions handled through its companion software. GDM Akihabara reported that the controls can also be assigned to practical functions such as text input, camera toggling, audio mute and volume adjustment without using a keyboard or mouse.

The unit measures 74 x 87 x 59 mm and weighs 250 g, which keeps it small enough for a crowded desk. Elecom lists it at 10,980 yen in Japan and offers international buyers the option to use Buyee shipping. The combination of docking station and input controller places it in a niche category that may appeal most to users who want a single accessory for connectivity, charging and quick desktop control.
