vivo takes X500 flagship range global, but Europe misses the standard model

vivo is expanding its X500 flagship family into selected markets, pairing high-refresh displays, large batteries and ZEISS cameras with a narrower European line-up.

vivo has begun rolling out its X500 flagship family beyond China, bringing the series to selected global markets, including Malaysia and parts of Europe. The launch covers the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, although the European line-up appears narrower, with local reports indicating that only the Pro and Pro Max models are being offered there. Industry reports also suggest the series could reach India later this year. The staggered release points to a regional strategy rather than a single worldwide debut.

The standard X500 is the most compact of the three, with a 6.59-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 4,000 nits. The X500 Pro uses a 6.36-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel, while the Pro Max increases that to 6.85 inches and 2K resolution. According to the launch details, both Pro models support Dolby Vision and can reach 4,500 nits, placing the range firmly in the premium display category.

Under the bonnet, vivo has paired the base model with MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9600M, while the two Pro variants use the newer 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro. All three phones ship with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra memory and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Battery capacity is another dividing line: the X500 carries a 7,500mAh cell, the Pro a 6,510mAh unit, and the Pro Max a 7,800mAh battery, although reports say the European version of the Pro Max is trimmed to 6,750mAh. Even so, every model is said to support 90W wired charging, 40W wireless charging, reverse wireless charging and bypass charging.

Photography remains a key selling point. The X500 uses a triple 50MP rear camera system built around a Sony LYTIA-828 main sensor with optical image stabilisation and a ZEISS APO telephoto lens with 3.1x optical zoom. The X500 Pro also uses three 50MP rear cameras, including a ZEISS APO telephoto unit with 3.5x zoom. The Pro Max steps up to a 200MP Samsung HP0 ZEISS APO telephoto camera with the same zoom range. All three phones have 50MP front cameras, while the Pro models add ZEISS T coating and dedicated imaging chips. vivo also highlights its X-Track Engine on the higher-end devices, with the Pro Max supporting subject tracking at up to 60 frames per second and 30x Long-Range Motion Snapshots, compared with 20x on the Pro.

Beyond still photography, the series supports 4K video capture at up to 240fps, as well as multi-focal 4K recording at 120fps. vivo says the phones also include Cinematic Pro Log Video, Cinematic Portrait Video and Stage Mode 3.0. Other specifications include ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors, infrared blasters, stereo speakers, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1. The handsets are IP68 and IP69 rated for dust and water resistance and run Android 17-based OriginOS 7 in dual-SIM form. In Europe, pricing reported for the Pro Max starts at €1,599, while Malaysian launch pricing has also been circulated for the full line-up.
