Sony has opened pre-orders for its new dual-wireless PS5 Pulse Headset, due to launch on 19 November 2026 alongside Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto VI.
Sony has opened pre-orders for a new PlayStation 5 Pulse Wireless Headset at $99.99, with the company saying it will go on sale on 19 November 2026 in White and Midnight Black. The launch date matches the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI, which Rockstar Games has formally set for the same day on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The pairing may be accidental, but it neatly places a new first-party PlayStation accessory alongside one of the year’s most anticipated games.
According to Sony’s official product page, the headset is built around dual wireless support, combining PlayStation Link for compatible PlayStation hardware with Bluetooth for phones and other devices. Sony also says the two connections can work at the same time, allowing a player to stay linked to a console while taking calls or listening on another device. That versatility makes the model more useful than a conventional console-only headset and broadens its appeal beyond living-room gaming.
Sony is also positioning the Pulse Wireless Headset as an audio upgrade rather than just a cheaper accessory. The company says it supports Tempest 3D AudioTech on PS5 and uses planar magnetic drivers, a design more often associated with higher-end audio products. It also includes AI-enhanced microphones intended to cut background noise and improve voice chat clarity. Those features will matter most in multiplayer games and long sessions, where positional sound, clear communication and comfort are more important than raw specification sheets.
The new model effectively succeeds Sony’s Pulse 3D Wireless Headset, which became a common recommendation among PS5 owners looking for an official audio option. The updated version adds broader connectivity and a more flexible design, including earcups that fold flat for easier storage and transport. That should make it more practical for players who move between home use and mobile listening, while also keeping the product in a price band that remains accessible against third-party rivals.
Sony is also preparing a more premium model. The Pulse Edge Wireless Headset is expected in early 2027 with active noise cancellation, indicating that the company is splitting its audio range into a mainstream product and a higher-end alternative. For now, though, the standard Pulse Wireless Headset appears to be the more immediate proposition: an officially licensed PS5 headset that combines dual-device connectivity, spatial audio support and a relatively modest price at the start of what could be a busy period for gaming hardware purchases.
