The entry-level wrist computer pairs a high-contrast display with a Rental Mode designed to help dive schools and charter operators prepare units for each new user.
Garmin has added a new entry to its Descent line with the X10, a wrist-worn dive computer aimed at recreational divers, training organisations and equipment rental businesses. According to Garmin’s announcement, the device was unveiled on 3 November 2026 and is positioned as a simpler, more accessible option than the company’s higher-end models, with a suggested US price of $349.99.
The central feature is a 2.1-inch always-on display built for quick readability underwater. Garmin says the screen uses large text, backlighting and a high-contrast layout so divers can check depth, elapsed dive time, oxygen-related information and no-decompression limits without moving through complex menus. The computer supports scuba, apnea and gauge modes, and Garmin has built in its NDL Aware function, which shows how changes in depth affect remaining no-decompression time in real time.
The X10 is also designed to be used with Garmin’s Dive smartphone app, which includes a simulator for practising dives before entering the water. After a dive, the app can automatically upload logs, tag locations and record equipment use. Garmin says compatible Descent devices can also share settings, which should make it easier to configure a backup unit or a second computer for the same diver.
For operators, the most distinctive addition is Rental Mode. Garmin says the feature allows a dive school, shop or charter company to configure the computer to a diver’s experience level and then reset it for the next user. That could simplify turnover in rental fleets, where staff often need to prepare multiple units quickly between courses and outings. Garmin is also selling interchangeable bezel guards separately in several colours, a small but practical touch that may help centres identify individual devices at a glance.
The company says the Descent X10 is built with a wetsuit-compatible silicone strap and supports QuickFit bands for further customisation. Garmin also states that the housing and bezel are made from recycled ocean-bound plastics, a material choice that fits the marine setting but has not been independently assessed in the broader environmental context. Battery life is quoted at up to 50 hours in dive mode, with up to six months in standby, and the device is rated at 10 ATM.
