The Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces a refined design, personalised features, and enhanced multitasking capabilities, positioning it as a powerful pocketable productivity device amid stiff competition.
Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 is designed to be more than a luxury phone that happens to fold. The wider cover screen, lighter build and tablet-style main display make it feel closer to a pocketable productivity machine, while One UI 9 keeps the familiar Samsung software layer that powers much of the device’s multitasking appeal, according to SamMobile’s hands-on review. That same review says Samsung has paired the phone with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chip, silicon-carbon battery tech and 45W charging, all aimed at improving speed, battery life and everyday convenience.
For owners, the first gains come from personalisation. The Fold 8 lets users set different wallpapers for the inner and outer displays, rename the device for easier sharing and connection, and choose between gesture navigation or traditional buttons. Samsung’s taskbar remains one of the most useful features, especially on a device with this much screen space, because it can be arranged around the apps you use most often. The Fold 8’s hidden strengths extend into sound, battery care and everyday shortcuts. What still defines the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the balance between novelty and usefulness. SamMobile says the new hinge design no longer supports Flex Mode, but also points to a tougher hinge, brighter AMOLED panels, less visible creasing and connectivity upgrades including Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and UWB. Tom’s Guide adds that while Samsung continues to push foldable hardware forward, app scaling on unfolded screens remains a weak point.
