Nextorage will begin selling its NX-CBT12 series Thunderbolt 5 cable on August 7, entering a small but fast-moving market for high-end connectivity hardware. The company says the cable is aimed at users who need one lead to handle data transfer, display output and charging, particularly in video production, game streaming and external storage setups. Pricing is set at an open level, with indicative street prices of ¥4,480 for the 30cm model, ¥4,680 for the 50cm version and ¥4,880 for the 1m cable.
The NX-CBT12 series is built around the Thunderbolt 5 specification and carries Intel certification, which Nextorage says confirms it meets compatibility and quality requirements. It supports bidirectional transfer speeds of up to 80Gbps, and can reach 120Gbps for video when Bandwidth Boost is used. In practice, that allows supported devices to drive dual 8K displays at 60Hz and deliver up to 240W of power, making it suitable for charging laptops as well as connecting high-resolution monitors and demanding peripherals. The cable is also designed to work with USB4 and other USB Type-C devices, widening its potential use beyond Thunderbolt systems.
Nextorage is launching the product in three lengths to suit different setups. The company says the 30cm version is intended for travel and cramped workspaces, the 50cm model for docking stations and multi-monitor desks, and the 1m cable for cleaner routing in studios or larger desktop installations. Its arrival comes as Thunderbolt 5 accessories begin to appear more widely, with other manufacturers also bringing certified cables to market in a range of lengths and price points.
