Thunderobot has refreshed its 17-inch gaming laptop range with a new G2A series that swaps Intel’s 13th-generation Core chips for AMD’s Ryzen 7 H255 across the line-up. According to IXBT News, the move is intended to improve multi-threaded performance while trimming power use, as the company looks to keep the Range 17 name positioned as a large-screen option for gamers who also want a machine that can handle heavier everyday workloads.
The new family consists of four models: Evo, Pro, Max and Pro 2K. Thunderobot has kept the chassis unchanged, and all four versions use the same 1TB SSD and weigh 2.65kg, while graphics power remains capped at 115W. Windows 11 Pro now comes pre-installed, suggesting the update is as much about platform efficiency and out-of-box readiness as it is about raw gaming hardware.
The biggest addition is the Range 17 G2A Pro 2K. It uses the same body as the standard Pro model but upgrades the display to a 17.3-inch QHD panel running at 165Hz, up from Full HD at 144Hz, and doubles memory to 32GB of DDR5. The graphics card stays at an RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM. By contrast, the Evo pairs an RTX 5050 with 16GB of DDR5, the Pro uses the RTX 5060 with 16GB and the Max carries an RTX 5070 with 8GB of GDDR7 memory and 32GB of DDR5.
Thunderobot’s broader Storm and Range 17 naming has already been used for similarly specced gaming laptops in some markets, but the G2A update appears focused on standardising the platform and widening the choice between entry-level and higher-end configurations. The company says the new models are already on sale.
