MSI’s Prestige 16 AI+ introduces a lightweight laptop powered by Intel’s innovative Panther Lake platform, offering significant graphics performance boosts, a stunning OLED touchscreen, and flexible modes suitable for creators, business users, and casual gamers alike.
MSI’s Prestige 16 AI+ is positioned as a thin-and-light laptop that tries to do more than the usual office brief. The headline feature is Intel’s Panther Lake platform, which pairs a Core Ultra X7 358H-class chip with the Arc B390 integrated graphics engine. In early testing highlighted by ETA Prime, MSI’s implementation is said to deliver a marked jump in graphics performance over the previous generation, giving the machine a stronger case for creative work and lighter gaming than most business laptops can offer.
The display is one of its most compelling features. MSI uses a 16-inch OLED touchscreen with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is rated for 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage and DisplayHDR True Black 1000, which should make it suitable for photo editing, video work and other colour-sensitive tasks. That higher refresh rate also helps the interface feel smoother in everyday use.
Performance depends not only on the processor but also on memory and thermal tuning. The Prestige 16 AI+ can be configured with up to 64GB of LPDDR5 memory, running at 8,533MT/s according to the supplied specifications, and as much as 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. Ars Technica’s coverage of Panther Lake underlined how high-speed LPDDR5X memory helps Intel’s latest mobile platform perform more consistently, while Phoronix reported strong gains from the Arc B390 in both compute and graphics workloads.
Connectivity is broad for a laptop this size. MSI includes two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, two USB 3.2 ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. That should make it easy to attach external displays, fast storage and modern wireless accessories. The 81Wh battery and 1.5kg aluminium chassis point to a machine intended for travel, not just desk use, while the backlit chiclet keyboard and large touchpad keep the design practical rather than flashy.
MSI also gives users more control over how the laptop behaves. Through MSI Center S, the machine offers AI, Performance, Balanced and Quiet modes, letting owners trade noise, power use and speed depending on the task. That flexibility matters because the same hardware is being pitched at creators, business users and casual gamers. Tom’s Hardware noted that pre-release Panther Lake systems with Arc B390 graphics have shown playable frame rates in demanding games such as Cyberpunk 2077, suggesting the Prestige 16 AI+ may be unusually versatile for an Intel-powered ultraportable.
