SanDisk has unveiled a versatile flash drive with Lightning and USB-C connectors designed to ease storage and transfer of large files across Apple devices, including iPhone 15 and later models.
SanDisk has launched a new flash drive aimed at Apple users who move large amounts of photos, video and documents between older and newer devices. The SanDisk Phone Drive for iPhone combines Lightning and USB-C connectors in one unit, giving it a wider device reach than many single-port accessories and making it usable across iPhone, iPad and Mac setups, according to the company.
The product is pitched as a practical answer to storage pressure on iPhones and to the friction of shifting files between Apple devices with different connection standards. SanDisk says the drive’s dual-connector design is meant to let users transfer content without needing separate accessories for older Lightning-based devices and newer USB-C models, including iPhone 15 and later.
Support software is central to the offering. SanDisk’s iOS app can be used to move media and documents, create backups and apply password-based encryption to stored files. The company says users can copy content to the drive and then delete items from the phone to free up space. Its support pages also note that the app can handle automatic backup, firmware updates and encryption, although compatibility details differ by platform and device type.
The drive is available in 128GB and 256GB versions, with a USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface, read speeds of up to 90MB per second and a stated write speed that is lower. SanDisk says the device has a metallic finish, a two-year limited warranty and compatibility with iOS 10.0.2 or later on Apple devices, while the companion app itself requires newer iOS versions for some functions. The product went on sale on August 7 through authorised retailers and online stores at an open price.
