Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 launches with aggressive trade-in deals to offset premium price

Samsung’s latest foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 8, arrives as the most expensive clamshell device yet, but retail incentives like trade-in offers, cashback, and bundled extras are reshaping its competitive landscape ahead of promotions ending on 16 August.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 is now on sale, and the early discount picture is being shaped by trade-in incentives, cashback offers and bundled extras rather than straightforward price cuts. GalaxyClub says several Dutch retailers are running temporary promotions until 16 August, with some offering fixed trade-in discounts and others adding larger return payments for old devices. That matters because the Flip 8 arrives as Samsung’s most expensive clamshell foldable yet, with a recommended price of €1,299 in the Netherlands.

According to the product details reported by Tom’s Guide and Android Central, the phone is a measured update rather than a full redesign. It uses a 6.9-inch internal display, a larger and more useful cover screen, and a 4,300 mAh battery, while Samsung has kept the camera hardware familiar. The main upgrade is under the hood, where the phone moves to a newer flagship processor and gains software features aimed at better multitasking, selfies and video recording. Reviewers also note that the device is thinner and easier to open, but not radically different in appearance.

For buyers trying to reduce the upfront cost, GalaxyClub says Mobiel.nl, Belsimpel and MediaMarkt are offering €50 off with trade-in, while Coolblue and Bol are advertising up to €200 extra for an old phone. Odido is using a post-purchase cashback model, Vodafone is pairing extra trade-in credit with selected contracts and KPN is offering up to €310 extra with an Unlimited plan. GalaxyClub also points to Trade-In as an alternative route, with an extra €15 in value when using the code BS15.

A separate offer from Proshop is more aggressive. GalaxyClub says purchases made by 16 August qualify for €250 cashback credited directly in the basket, plus a free pair of Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, while stocks last. Taken together, the promotions suggest Samsung and its retail partners are trying to soften the sting of a premium launch price for a phone that, by most accounts, is strongest on refinement rather than radical change.
