Trane Technologies introduces a new generation of 24V smart thermostats designed for broad compatibility, easy installation, and enhanced performance, marking a significant upgrade for connected home heating and cooling systems.
Trane Technologies has unveiled a new generation of 24V smart thermostats under its Trane and American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning brands, positioning the devices as more than simple wall-mounted controls. According to the company, the Trane Priority Smart Thermostat and the American Standard Gold Smart Thermostat are designed to act as connected platforms for whole-home comfort, with an emphasis on easier installation, simpler servicing and better long-term system performance. The thermostats went on sale online on August 4, 2026.
The launch is notable for its broad compatibility. Trane says the units work with almost any 24V HVAC system, making them a potential upgrade path for a wide range of homes rather than only for proprietary equipment. That matters in a market where homeowners and contractors increasingly want connected controls without being forced into a full system replacement.
On the American Standard side, the Gold 824 Thermostat shows how the new line is being built around practical control features rather than novelty. The product offers scheduling for up to four heating and cooling periods a day, a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen, a built-in Z-Wave bridge for remote control and an indoor humidity display. It is compatible with conventional 24V central HVAC, heat pump and dual-fuel systems, and it carries ENERGY STAR certification.
Trane’s related Link UX360 Thermostat points to a more advanced tier for variable-speed communicating systems. The model includes a 7-inch colour touchscreen, Z-Wave connectivity, support for Alexa and Google Home and diagnostic tools that can help monitor system performance. American Standard also says its Smart Optimization function on the Gold 824 and Platinum 850 models calibrates temperature sensors, adjusts airflow and refines heating and cooling cycles based on how the home behaves over time.
